The August 2006 Recipe of the Month Chocolate Chip Cool Down Smoothie This is sort of a chocolate smoothie/shake, but not really...it should help keep you cool in the summer heat, and it uses chocolate chips, so you do not have to turn the stove on to make a chocolate sauce. The chocolate chips also give it a bit of texture...no plain sloshy drink here!! We thank Mrs. J. Battle for this terrific and easy to prepare cooler.
Ingredients 1/2 cup gourmet-style vanilla ice cream 1/3 cup good quality chocolate chips 1/4 cup milk Large dash of rum, brandy, or green Chartreuse (optional) Directions Note: You must use a blender for this recipe to work properly, due to the nicely solid chocolate chips. Place ice cream and chocolate chips in blender. Add milk. Blend low to be sure it liquifies...add a bit more milk if you need to, but not too much...it needs to be thick to work best. Mix well to break up the chocolate chips and puree into the ice cream. Add dash of rum at this point if desired. Pour into a thick glass or a mug and serve immediately.   Serves 1, namely YOU! Repeat for deserving others.
