Cowboy Cookies
Here's a recipe from June Nordin, contributed by Norma Welton, whose industrious son Dave has put her recipes on-line (now there's a role model!). Check out Nana's Recipes for other great ideas.

Ingredients
|
- 3/4 cup flour
- 1/4 cup Hershey's Cocoa.
- 1/2 teaspoon soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder.
- 1/2 cup margarine or shortening
- 1/2 cup sugar

- 1/2 cup brown sugar (firmly packed)
- 1 egg
- 1 cup quick oats
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- Optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Directions
- Sift together and set aside flour, cocoa, soda, salt and baking powder.
- Blend together shortening and sugars.
- Add egg and beat until light and fluffy.
- Add flour mixture, mix well.
- Add rolled oats, vanilla, chocolate chips and nuts if used.
- Drop by teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet.
- Bake at 350° for 10 minutes for soft cookies and 12 minutes for crisp cookies.
(More or less baking time depending on your oven and altitude.)
