The December 99 Puzzle We blew the budget. There are several local business which served us well during the year, so in the spirit of the season we budgeted a certain amount for each to purchase holiday gifts for their staff. We asked the five Chocoholic.com employees who primarily dealt with these companies to purchase the gift (naturally we threw in some of our fabulous chocolates). We asked them stay within the budget, but if need be they could go slightly over (bad idea). The gifts have been bought and sent and the receipts have been turned in. Our employee Santas have really outdone themselves in generosity. Can you determine the employee who bought the gift, the business for which it was bought, the original budgeted amount and by how much the gift exceeded the budget. Lorainne had the highest budget, but neither she nor the person who over spent by the largest amount were buying the gift for Kostly Office Supplies. The employee with the $100 budget only exceeded it by $25 and this was not Gay Goudin. Al Fitzmore was responsible for getting a gift for Byte the Bit Computers. We budgeted $175 for Turtel Delivery (to get their delivery van tuned-up). Izzy Cramer spent $75 over the budget, which was not $225. The manager of StayWell Insurance called the Chocoholic.com gift giver, who blew the budget by $60, to thank us for the gift and to let us know rates are going up.
