The July 98 Puzzle

To reduce the load on the busy staff at Chocoholic.com we recently ran an ad for a chocolate taster. We interviewed five candidates and presented each with a box of chocolate samples from which we asked each candidate to choose three and give us their impressions of the chocolate.

Every candidate came with a strong point but we also noted a weak point for each.

NOTE: Due to altruistic concerns of the staff, we've decided not to hire a full time taster and will instead keep chocolate tasting a staff job function and increased everyone's pay to compensate them for this taxing burden.

From the following clues, determine the sequence in which we interviewed the candidates, their names, strong points and weak points.

  • The second person we interviewed was self motivated.

  • Nancy Fleur was not late for the interview.

  • Robert Mueller was the last interviewee. He did not have a great personality.

  • While filling out the application form, Fred Knowles couldn't remember his Social Security number.

  • The well rounded candidate was also on parole. He was not the last interviewee.

  • We interviewed Pamela Dawn right after the candidate who was highly recommended. Neither ate all the samples or arrived late.

Interview Sequence: 3, 2, 5, 4, 1
Candidates: Nancy Fleur, Robert Mueller, Fred Knowles, Rick Young, Pamela Dawn
Strong Points: Well rounded, Self motivated, Highly recommended, Great personality, Eager to start
Weak Points: On parole, Ate all samples, Forgot SS #, Not self motivated, Late for interview

Finished? Email us the answers, along with your name, address and phone number.

Each person who submits the correct answer will be entered in the drawing for the July chocolate prize. The winner will be selected at the the beginning of August. In order to send the winner his/her prize, please submit your address along with your answer.

Good Luck!
