The March 99 Puzzle

The area youth clubs which are sponsored by local businesses including Chocoholic.com, recently held a winter festival. One of the highlights was a paper airplane throwing contest. To keep things moving each contestant had one opportunity to throw their hand-made plane with the prize going to the one who's plane covered the longest distance.

Naturally not all the planes made a save landing. Your challenge is to match each contestant with the distance their plane flew, the order in which they threw their plane, and the ending of their plane's flight.

  • Matthew threw his plane right before the contestant whose plane landed in the punch bowl, and right after the contestant whose plane flew 12 yards.

  • The contestant who's plane landed perfectly, flew 4 yards longer than the plane of the boy who threw first.

  • A toddler swatted down the plane thrown by one of the boys, and another boy's plane, a poor design, flew the shortest distance.

  • Beth's plane flew 4 yards less than the one which got stuck in the lighting fixture which wasn't thrown fourth. Beth was not the second contestant.

  • Andrew threw right after the contestant who won, which was not Rene.

  • The plane that hit a spectator was not an even numbered launch. It flew over 10 yards.

Here are the things you need to match.

Contestants: Matthew, Rene, Jack, Beth, Andrew

Flight End: Dove in Punch Bowl, Hit Spectator, Swatted down, Stuck in Light Fixture, Perfect Landing

Flight Distance: 12 yards, 4 yards, 20 yards, 8 yards, 16 yards

Launch Order: 1'st, 2'nd, 3'rd, 4'th, 5'th

Finished? Email us the answers, along with your name, address and phone number.

Each person who submits the correct answer will be entered in the drawing for the March chocolate prize. The winner will be selected at the the beginning of April. In order to send the winner his/her prize, please submit your address along with your answer.

Good Luck!
